Matthias Mansen. Triest oder die Götter
The exhibition “Triest oder die Götter” at the Kunstmuseum Singen focuses on Matthias Mansen's current series “Triest oder die Götter”, which was created following a summer trip in 2017. This series is included in a retrospective exhibition that shows Mansen's artistic development from 1983 to the present day, over forty years as an artist. With this exhibition, the Kunstmuseum Singen is fulfilling a long-cherished wish to present the Ravensburg-born artist to the German-Swiss public in a large-scale exhibition. “It is not the still, condensed moment that interests Mansen, but the concurrent and thus contemporary simultaneity of the images. He thus integrates processes of perception and image creation into his works and reflects his medium in the context of the visual situation of people today. One critic has aptly described Mansen's woodcuts as »a kind of fabric of experience«.” (Quote from the exhibition text)
