Getürmt – Turmmotive in der Gegenwartskunst (23. Sept. – 26. Nov. 2021)

Stiftung BC – pro arte, Biberach

The group exhibition is dedicated to the archetype of the tower as a multi-layered symbol that can stand for protection, defense or imprisonment as well as for progress, farsightedness and the skyward striving of the human spirit. The Tower of Babel became a symbol of human hubris; as phallic symbols, towers are gestures of patriarchal power. Contemporary art also draws from this rich fund of meanings, which has immensely expanded the creative scope of the tower, especially in formal terms. With works by Friedemann Grieshaber, Klaus Hack, Stephan Hasslinger, Gerd Kanz, Andrea Kernbach, Matthias Mansen, Gabriela Nasfeter, Reiner Seliger, Lothar Seruset, and others.

The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue.
