In the exhibition we are showing works from three decades: About The House, New York; Berlin-Tiergarten; Triest oder die Götter. On the occasion of his retrospective at Schloss Gottorf, Schleswig-Holsteinische Landesmuseen (26.03. to 25.08.24) and at the Kunstmuseum Singen (29.09. to 05.01.25), Kerber Verlag published a catalog entitled “Matthias Mansen, Triest oder die Götter” (March 2024), which also accompanies our exhibition.

“With his color woodcuts, which consist of several printing blocks and are sometimes printed in multiple overlays, Mansen has significantly advanced the art of woodcutting. In their technical complexity and monumental size, his woodcuts are probably unique in contemporary art. He sometimes cuts apart his printing blocks and combines the individual parts in different variations. The resulting possibilities are almost limitless”.
